Winter Wildland

See animals throughout the park enjoy winter-themed enrichments like fruit, evergreen trees decorated with treats, ice piles, and snowmen.

Daily Enrichment Schedule:
11:30 am Woodlands animals (beavers, otters, porcupines and more!)
1:30 pm Woodlands animals
1 pm Bear hibernation keeper chat
2pm Wolves/cats

Things to Do:
Cheney Discovery Center
  • make an ornament or bird feeder out of recycled materials
  • design a snowflake, and learn about symmetry in nature
  • discover more about migratory birds and the challenges they face
Baker Cabin
  • Learn about tracking animals, and what signs, tracks and scat can tell us about animals of the Pacific Northwest
Discovery Cart
  • Find out how to attract birds to your yard and ways to help them throughout the year


More to Explore

After watching critters explore their treats, the fun isn't over. Enjoy a narrated Discovery Tram Tour of the park's free-roaming area from the comfort of a heated tram, indulge in tasty treats and hot drinks at the Forest Cafe, stop by the indoor Cheney Family Discovery Center to learn how animals acclimate to winter, meet animals up close during Trailside Encounters, and more.

Activities are FREE with admission and appropriate for all ages.

Holiday Lights Recycling Program: Help us keep thousands of holiday lights out of the landfill. Drop off your old or broken lights at one of  our designated bins, including the front gate at Northwest Trek.
