Mystery question 2

We have been finding small footprints in the mud that seem to end at the pond water’s edge, but begin again on the other side. We noticed that the prints don’t seem to have any claw marks on them!  While tracking these strange prints, we haven’t heard any sounds that would help us identify this ghostly creature. Maybe it’s a ghoul that can float over water! What do you think?
