As the Seattle Mariners head into the heat of October baseball, Pierce County zoos are stepping up to the plate to join the postseason excitement.
Starting Saturday, Sept. 27 fans sporting Mariners gear will knock $5 off general admission at the front gates of both Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. Whether you’re hyped for homers or wild about wildlife, both zoos are ready to bring the energy of the ballpark to the animal kingdom.
At Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, the Mariners mojo is going moose-size. Northwest Trek’s mascot, Footloose the Moose, is officially cheering on Mortimer “Mariner” Moose, the beloved Mariners mascot. Guests can visit real moose Calli and Luna, a pair of rescued orphans, as they explore the wildlife park’s expansive 435-acre Free-Roaming Area. These moose are ready to root, root, root for the home team!
Meanwhile, over at Point Defiance Zoo, catch cat action during Keeper Chats, where tigers “catch” meatballs in a fashion that would impress even Cal Raleigh.
“This is a fun, wild way for fans to celebrate the Mariners chasing October glory,” said Alan Varsik, Director of both zoos. “We love seeing our community come together around the team and are excited to be a part of it.”
