Hoot ‘n’ Howl Details

Chip and Hudson can often be seen snuggling together in their den in the Forest & Wetlands beaver habitat. They might also be seen arranging their habitat to their liking with more sticks, branches, and foliage. Beavers are incredibly adaptable and can make most places around the United States into cozy homes. They adapt to being around humans by limiting their activity to the evening, making them nocturnal. Meet our beavers at 5:30 pm during special keeper chats on Hoot ‘n’ Howl nights.

gray wolves and pumpkins

Tala, Darci, and Canagan are often seen exploring their wooded habitat, and you may hear their howls echoing around the park. Gray wolves hunt for their prey during twilight hours and can continue their hunt well into the dark. They adapt their activity to avoid humans and other predators. Although gray wolves can be active during the day or night, they are most active at twilight, dusk, and dawn. Gray wolves have a reflective layer in their eyes, which allows them to see well in low light. Learn more about our gray wolves at 6:30 pm during special keeper chats on Hoot ‘n’ Howl nights.

Barn owl Teklus

During the daytime, you might find Teklus (pronounced Tuck-loose) sleeping in one of the corners of his habitat. Barn owls prefer to sleep in dark, tucked-away locations. They are more active during the night to hunt for their prey, which consists primarily of rodents, but can occasionally include small mammals and birds. Their incredible hearing helps them find their prey even in the darkest places. You can meet Teklus at 7:30 pm for a special keeper chat while he is awake at Hoot ‘n’ Howl.
