Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kadie Anderson as the new Head Veterinarian. Dr. Anderson, a seasoned veterinarian with extensive experience in wildlife and zoo medicine, conservation, and a deep commitment to animal well-being, will lead the wildlife park’s veterinary team and oversee the care of its more than 100 Pacific Northwest native animals. She succeeds Dr. Allison Case, who retired in March after a distinguished 19-year career of dedicated service to the park.

“Dr. Anderson’s expertise in conservation and zoological medicine makes her the perfect choice to continue the exceptional care for our animals and uphold Northwest Trek’s mission to provide a safe, natural environment for both wildlife and visitors,” said Rick Dietz, Deputy Director of Northwest Trek Wildlife Park.
Dr. Anderson brings a wealth of experience, having served as Associate Veterinarian at Northwest Trek’s sister zoo, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, since 2016. She holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and is board-certified by the American College of Zoological Medicine, a rare distinction held by fewer than 300 veterinarians globally. Her career includes global conservation projects for species such as the Galapagos tortoise, drills in Cameroon, African lions, and local elk research in the Olympic Mountains.
“I’m honored to join the team at Northwest Trek and continue the outstanding work that Dr. Case and the veterinary team have done,” said Dr. Anderson. “I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated veterinary staff and keepers to ensure the health and well-being of the wildlife here and to further our conservation goals.”
Dr. Karen Wolf, Head Veterinarian at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, expressed her support for Dr. Anderson’s transition: “Our parks have always worked closely together, and I’m excited to see Dr. Anderson take on this new role. We have a strong, collaborative partnership, and I’m certain she will continue to thrive in her new position.”
Dr. Anderson assumed her new role in March 2025, continuing Northwest Trek’s tradition of excellence in wildlife care and conservation education.
