Education volunteer with cart
Education Volunteers

Help our education staff interpret our wildlife park and animals to our guests.  As an Education Volunteer, you’ll staff discovery carts at animal habitats, help guests explore the Cheney Discovery Center and Baker Cabin, welcome guests entering the park, and help with special events.

Special Events Volunteers

Help out at one of our many fun events at Northwest Trek! As a Special Events Volunteer, you’ll assist at special events like Slug Fest, Hoot ‘n’ Howl and more by directing our guests, leading craft and activity stations, setting up and taking down, and more.

Horticulture Volunteers

Love gardening and working in nature? As a Horticulture Volunteer, you’ll help our horticulture staff with projects large and small: clearing paths, removing invasive species, landscaping, and restoration. It’s a great way to learn more about Northwest plants!

Conservation Volunteers

Our volunteers are crucial in helping us conserve species. As a Conservation Volunteer, you’ll conduct amphibian egg mass surveys, bat counts and more, both in and around Northwest Trek.

Maintenance Volunteers

As a maintenance volunteer, you will help us keep our grounds clean and enjoyable. You’ll assist with various activities such as painting signs, repairing and building decorations for events, and more! Also, there is a possibility that you’ll get to work in and around animal habitats!

  3. Attend volunteer orientation and training. This is required for all formal volunteers.
  4. Pay the $35 administrative fee.
  5. Make a commitment to make a difference. (Check each program to learn what is involved.)
