The Working Waterfront Maritime Museum is operated by the non-profit organization – Foss Waterway Seaport. The Museum, located at the foot of Tacoma's downtown core along the Thea Foss Waterway, offers visitors a variety of opportunities. Guests of the Museum can view maritime artifacts and historic small watercraft, watch boat restoration and new boat construction, participate in hands-on activities for all ages, enjoy lectures about local maritime history, take part in one of our many special events and return often to see visiting exhibits. The Pack Forest has trails with lots of natural beauty.

The Center for Sustainable Forestry at Pack Forest is not far from Northwest Trek and offers a variety of trails and programs to learn more about Pacific Northwest ecology.

You can visit either Scatter Creek Wildlife Area or Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve. The Nature Conservancy protects these two enclaves of prarie and oak woodlands in partnership with the Washington Deparments of Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources as well as Thurston County and Fort Lewis.

Developed and maintained by Emmott and Ione Chase since 1962, the Chase Garden is a fine example of the Northwest style of that era. The naturalistic woodland, primarily of second-growth Douglas fir trees, has an understory of native shrubs and carpets of trillium, erythronium, vanilla leaf, and other wildflowers with Mount Rainier as a centerpiece.
