Summer Stationary

Materials:

  • White or colored paper
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Glue
  • Natural items like feathers, leaves, and flowers

Instructions:

  1. Begin by collecting your natural items several days before you plan to make your stationary.  Press them in a book or under something heavy.  Be sure to put the items between newspaper or brown paper bags to absorb the moisture.

  2. Once your items are pressed, glue them along the edge of a piece of paper to make your own stationary.
  3. Paint around your nature items to add detail to the paper.

  4. Allow to dry, then write a letter on your new stationary.  Send it to a friend or family member to tell them about your exciting summer adventures!

Tissue Paper Vase

Materials:

  • Scraps of different color tissue paper
  • Glass bottle
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paint brushes - brittle or foam brushes

Instructions:

  1. Rip or cut the tissue paper in a variety of shapes and sizes.

  2. Once you have all your tissue pieces cut, begin painting glue on the glass bottle.  Paint a small area and apply the tissue.

  3. Continue painting and applying tissue until the entire bottle is covered.

  4. Once the entire bottle is covered, allow it to dry completely.  Then apply a coat of glue over the entire bottle to seal the tissue paper.

  5. Once dry, add fresh flowers and water!

Handprint Tulips

Materials:

  • White paper
  • Green paint
  • Red, pink, and yellow paint
  • Papertowels

Instructions:

  1. Dip the forearm (from elbow to wrist) in green finger paint.  If you don't have a tray big enough to accommodate this, just paint the finger paint onto the forearm with a paintbrush.

  2. Press the arm down 3 or 4 times onto a sheet of white paper (construction paper works great!) to make the stems of the tulips
  3. Now dip the hand (excluding the thumb) into red (or yellow or pink) finger paint and stamp on top of the stems (holding the thumb up) to make the tulip flowers. Keep your fingers close together.
  4. You can add fingerprint green stems, thumbprint green grass, thumbprint caterpillars and thumbprint butterflies.
