Field Trip Activities

TRAM TOUR:
Venture into the wilds of Northwest Trek during a tram tour.

Preschool-6th grade:
The 30-minute tour offers students a chance to see many animals in a short amount of time, ensuring a high excitement level and energized experience. The tour suits the shorter attention span of young children and allows you and your students more time to explore the rest of the park and participate in Adventure Trek programs.

7th grade and up:
The 50-minute tram tour allows extra time for your naturalist guide to explain how the animals live and adapt to wetland, meadow and forest habitats.

WALKING TOUR OF ANIMAL EXHIBITS:
Let your students walk the trails and get some of their energy out! This is a fantastic chance to help them learn about predators, forest animals and wetland animals of the Northwest. Grizzlies, black bears, wolves, bobcats, lynx, cougars, eagles and otters are just a few animals they will find on this adventure. Click here for a map of the walking tour.

NATURE TRAILS:
From big to small, short to tall, your students will be fascinated by the variety of native plants and animals they will see and learn about while exploring our five miles of nature trails. Before you come to Trek, study the trail map to decide which trail to explore.

CHENEY DISCOVERY CENTER:
This hands-on center for children of all ages is filled with discoveries. Learn about wildlife and the environment by using your sense of touch, smell, hearing, and sight. Students can dress up as their favorite animal, use puppets to act out animal behaviors, hear the buzzing of a real working honeybee hive, see a snake slither by in our snake exhibit, or touch one of the many fur pelts representing Pacific Northwest animals. More info...
