Cheney Family Discovery Center
This interactive center for children of all ages is filled with things to discover about nature and wildlife. Use puppets to imitate animal behavior, watch a snake slither, or touch one of the many fur pelts of Pacific Northwest animals. Several of Northwest Trek's smaller residents live in the center. As you explore the Cheney Center, you will find animal biofacts and information about Washington's habitats and the wide variety of animals that live here. Hands-on activities abound. You can also take home some great activities and handouts that change seasonally.
Several of the best aspects of the Cheney Family Discovery Center are centered around Korum Korner. This new area was made possible by a grant from the Korum for Kids Foundation.
When visiting the Cheney Center
The Discovery Center is best enjoyed when parents or other adults work with children to discover the natural world on their own, at their own pace, and through hands-on and other sense-stimulating activities. Naturalists and volunteers are always available to answer questions. |
